Website Maintenance Services 1

What our website maintenance services cover

Website maintenance is the ongoing work that keeps a live site secure, fast, and accurate after launch. In practice it comes down to five jobs.

  • Updates. Platform, theme, and plugin updates applied on staging first and tested before going live.
  • Backups. Daily off-site backups, tested to ensure they can be restored when needed.
  • Monitoring. Uptime checks and malware scans to catch problems before you do.
  • Renewals. Domains, SSL certificates, and licenses renewed before they expire.
  • Fixes and changes. Broken features fixed and content updated as your business needs evolve.

A straight answer on who this suits

Yes

A good fit

  • A site that generates leads, bookings, or orders, where downtime costs money
  • A marketing team with a backlog and no developer to help
  • Anyone tired of emailing a vendor for small changes and waiting a week
  • An owner who inherited a site and doesn’t know who controls the domain, hosting, or logins
No

Probably not

  • A brochure site that rarely changes and gets little traffic. Decent managed hosting is enough.
  • A site built with a page builder so restrictive that maintaining it costs more than replacing it. We’ll tell you if that’s the case.
  • Anyone expecting unlimited changes for $49 a month. Nobody realistically offers that, whatever the ads say.

Pick the one that matches how much work you have

Most people arrive asking for a plan, then figure out on the call that what they really need is a developer on the calendar. Both are here with prices, and plenty of clients run both, a plan for the upkeep and a block of hours for the bigger work.

Model 1 · the common one

A maintenance plan

A fixed monthly fee for a fixed scope. We keep the site updated, backed up, monitored, and secure, and a set number of hours of changes are included. You email us what you need, we do it and send a recap.

Best when you need a few changes a month and mostly want to stop worrying.

Model 2 · the one most agencies do not sell

A developer from our team, by the week

You book five, ten, or twenty hours a week of a named developer. You decide what they work on, new templates, a migration, a backlog of tickets, the things a plan would call out of scope. We manage them, you direct them.

Best when you have a roadmap or a backlog, not just upkeep.

Our website maintenance plans and pricing

Published, because you should not have to book a call to find out if we are in your range. Every plan is month to month.

  • Everything in PX2, plus:
  • Up to 5 support requests per month (10 minutes or less each)

Start on PX3

30-day satisfaction guarantee. Requires one-year commitment.

On every plan

Malware and file change scanning, SSL, domain, and license renewal tracking, daily off site backups, and month to month terms with no contract.

More than one site

Sites two and up take 25 percent off the same plan. We maintain groups of restaurant, dealership, and practice sites this way.

No contract, and that is deliberate

Cancel with 30 days notice and we hand over the site, the backups, and the asset register. We want you to want to work with us, not have to work with us.

Need more than just small changes per month? Hire our team

A plan covers upkeep and a few small changes. When you have a backlog, a migration, a set of new templates, or an in house marketing team that keeps hitting a wall, what you need is a developer with your name on their calendar, so that is what we sell.

The rate falls as the commitment rises, because a booked week is worth more to us than a scramble.

  • A dedicated developer who stays on your account
  • Working hours that overlap with your business day
  • Your own Slack or Teams channel for direct communication
  • A shared board to track queued and completed tasks
  • Weekly check-ins and a monthly breakdown of hours
Book Developer Hours

Retainer rates

  • 5 hours a week A marketing team clearing a backlog
    $1,800/mo 20 hrs a month · $90 an hour
  • 10 hours a week An active roadmap, new templates, landing pages, integrations
    $3,400/mo 40 hrs a month · $85 an hour
  • 20 hours a week Half a developer’s week, for multi site operators, agencies, and franchises
    $6,400/mo 80 hrs a month · $80 an hour

How fast we respond

Every agency says they respond fast. We put our actual numbers in the agreement instead, and if we miss the one hour emergency response on a Managed plan, that month is free.

We respond within What happened Notes
1 hour, any day Site is down, or has been compromised Weekends and holidays included, on every plan
Same business day Checkout, a form, or a phone number is broken Anything that stops you taking money or leads
1 business day A small content, copy, or image change The changes we would usually rather teach you to make
3 to 4 business days A new page, template change, or styling work Longer only if it needs design or copy from you
Quoted in 2 business days A scoped project, integration, migration, new section Fixed price and a timeline before any work starts

Website support that follows the sun

Eighteen people across time zones, and one point of contact who knows your project. Work carries on while your office is closed. That’s not a perk, it’s the reason things move at the speed they do.

Five steps, starting with a free look at what you have

We do not quote a maintenance plan on a site we have not opened. Too often the honest answer is that the site needs fixing before it needs maintaining, and you deserve to hear that before you start paying a monthly fee.
STEP 01

We audit it, free

Updates outstanding, security state, backup situation, speed, broken forms, expiring renewals, who holds what. Back to you in three business days as a written list.

steps shape
STEP 02

We clear the backlog first

Anything already broken or dangerously out of date gets fixed as a one off, quoted separately. We will not fold two years of neglect into a monthly fee and pretend it is covered.

steps shape
STEP 03

You pick a plan or hours

Based on what the audit found, not on a guess. If a plan is the wrong shape for you, we say so and quote hours instead.

steps shape
STEP 04

Work happens on staging, then live

You get a staging URL to look at before anything reaches your customers, and a snapshot gets taken first, so a bad change is a two minute rollback.

steps shape
STEP 05

You get a clear recap

Every month, what we did, what we found, what we recommend next, and where the hours went. No dashboard login you will never open.

Your Website Your Asset

Not sure what yours runs on

Send us the URL and we will tell you the platform, the version, what is out of date, and what it would take to maintain, before you pay us anything.

Send Us Your URL

What platforms we maintain

The first question we ask is what your site runs on, because maintenance means something different on every platform. WordPress and WooCommerce are what we are best at, and they make up most of our work. The rest we support too, and we are honest about how deep we go on each one, because we would rather turn down a platform than learn it on your site.

wordpress logo Core strength

WordPress

Core, theme, and plugin updates on staging, PHP version management, database cleanup, security hardening, plugin count reduction.

logo woocommerce Core strength

WooCommerce

Everything WordPress gets, plus test orders, payment gateway and shipping updates, tax table checks, feed and variant integrity.

shopify logo Yes

Shopify

Theme and app updates, checkout and payment testing, app bloat cleanup, template edits, feed health. No server layer to manage.

logo bigcommerce Yes

BigCommerce

Theme maintenance, app and integration updates, checkout testing, catalog and feed checks.

logo webflow Yes

Webflow

Content and CMS collection updates, template changes, form and integration testing. Hosting is Webflow’s, so no server work.

logo squarespace Content only

Squarespace and Wix

Page and content changes, form testing, SEO settings, integrations. The platform owns the update and security layer.

logo magento Case by case

Adobe Commerce, Magento

Security patches, extension updates, indexer and cache health. Heavier work, usually quoted as hours, not a plan.

hubspot icon Case by case

HubSpot CMS

Template and module maintenance, form and workflow checks, content updates.

multi platforms Hours only

Custom PHP, Laravel, Node

Dependency and framework updates, server patching, monitoring. Always a retainer, never a fixed plan, we cannot price a codebase we have not read.

If you want someone who actually understands how to grow a business online, call Alex. Alex reviewed our entire website, identified opportunities we were missing, helped improve our SEO, and completely sharpened our Google Ads strategy. What impressed me most was that he didn’t just throw around marketing buzzwords—he gave us clear, practical recommendations that actually made sense for our business. He’s knowledgeable, responsive, strategic, and genuinely invested in helping his clients succeed. And just as importantly, Alex is an absolute pleasure to work with. There are plenty of people who claim to understand SEO and Google Ads. Alex actually does. Five stars without hesitation. Highly recommend.

Working with the PixelChefs team was an absolute pleasure. From the start, they took the time to understand IMPOWER’s mission and translated that into a website that truly reflects who we are as a nonprofit. The entire process was smooth, organized, and collaborative — their communication was always clear, and they made thoughtful recommendations that helped us elevate both design and functionality. One of the biggest highlights was how seamless the handoff felt. PixelChefs empowered our team to easily manage updates on our end, and they were quick to respond to any questions along the way. It’s refreshing to work with a team that genuinely cares about the impact of their work. We’re thrilled with the final site and highly recommend PixelChefs to any organization looking for a partner who combines creativity, professionalism, and heart. - Anna Kesic, President/CEO, IMPOWER

Frequently asked questions about website maintenance

In the US, website maintenance typically runs $100 to $600 a month for a small or mid size business site on a plan, and $80 to $200 an hour for development work outside a plan. Ours are $150, $300, and $600 a month, with developer retainers from $1,800 a month and an as needed rate of $150 an hour. Published prices below $50 a month almost always cover content edits only, with no backups, no security, and no monitoring.

Yes, and there are three ways to do it. Put the site on a maintenance plan, where a provider handles upkeep and a few changes for a flat monthly fee. Retain a developer for a set number of hours each week and direct the work yourself, which is the right answer when you have a backlog or a roadmap. Or hire in house, which starts to make sense above roughly 20 hours of work a week. We sell the first two, and we will tell you honestly when the third is cheaper for you.

A complete plan covers nine things. Platform and plugin updates, off site backups that get restore tested, security monitoring and cleanup, uptime and speed monitoring, a set number of change hours, testing of forms and checkout, renewal tracking for domains and licenses, a written asset register, and a monthly report. A plan missing backups, security, or monitoring is a content edit service with a maintenance label on it.

The build is a one time cost. Maintenance is optional and separate, and we do not require it. Several long standing clients pay us for hosting and nothing else. What you cannot avoid is the cost of the site existing, hosting, a domain, and any paid licenses. Everything above that is a choice about how much of the upkeep you want to do yourself.

Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. We audit it first, free, and give you the findings in writing within three business days. Occasionally the audit concludes the site is not worth maintaining, usually a heavy page builder theme where every change is a rebuild. We tell you that plainly rather than take a monthly fee against it.

No. No plan on this page requires it, and there is no hosting contract even if you do. We maintain plenty of sites on WP Engine, Kinsta, and client owned servers, and if your site is big enough we will recommend you own the server yourself and pay us to manage it.

Everything is month to month. Thirty days notice, in an email, and we hand over the site files, the database, the current backups, and your asset register. We do not hold domains or licenses hostage. A one off project quoted separately has its own scope, but the maintenance itself never locks you in.

We respond within an hour on any plan. The first move is almost always restoring the site to a clean state from a known good backup, then patching the way in, which is nearly always an out of date plugin or a weak admin password. Cleanup is included on Managed, included once a year on Growth, and billed hourly on Essential. The reason we test restores monthly is so this is an afternoon, not a catastrophe.

No. We are based in Orlando and have plenty of Central Florida clients, but maintenance is remote work by nature and we look after sites across the US and Canada. If you are local, we will come to you.

Yes. Plenty of relationships here started as a list of four things to fix and became a plan six months later. One off work gets a fixed price and a timeline before anything begins.

Somebody should be looking after your site

Three plans, real prices, month to month. Pick the one that fits, or send us the URL and we will tell you which one does.
