A new brand carrying a forty year old name

Westgate Resorts has been in the vacation business since 1982, with resorts in Orlando, Las Vegas, Gatlinburg, Myrtle Beach, Park City, and beyond. Westgate Events is their newest swing, packaging concerts, races, theme parks, and cruises with a resort stay, sold as one trip priced per couple.

A new brand wearing that name cannot launch on a template. It had to look like Westgate built it, work like a modern booking site, and stand on its own from day one.

The ask: sell the show and the stay as one

The brief had three demands stacked on top of each other. Plenty of sites do one of those well. The job was doing all three on the same build.

01

Feel like a single purchase

An event and a hotel stay sold as one decision, across a half dozen trip types and seven destinations.

02

Run by marketers, not developers

The team running it day to day is a marketing team, so updating it had to be genuinely simple.

03

Grow without breaking

The catalog would never sit still, new shows, new races, new categories, so the structure had to scale and pull search traffic while doing it.

Structure first, pixels second

We did not open a design file on day one. We mapped the site first, every category, every destination, every page type, and how they connect.

That order matters on a project like this. The category tree is the SEO plan, the admin experience, and the navigation all at once, so getting it right up front meant everything designed afterward had a place to live. It is also why the site can add a whole new trip type today without rethinking anything.

  • Concerts
country · Latin · pop · rock · hip hop
  • Sports
    football · baseball · soccer · races
  • Theme parks
  • Cruises

Every branch is its own page. The team adds the next one from the dashboard.

Every screen designed from scratch

No theme, no template, no page builder. We designed the homepage, category pages, event pages, and destination pages ourselves, then coded the front end to match.

Every choice serves the one purchase idea. Event cards lead with the dates, the city, and the per couple price, so trips compare at a glance. Filters cut by destination, category, and month. Destination pages sell the city, category pages sell the lineup, and event pages close the deal with everything in one place.

It all holds up on a phone, where most of this browsing happens, without shedding features to get there.

Simple for their team.
Structured for Google.

This was the part Westgate cared about most. Their team adds events, dates, and prices on their own. They spin up entire new categories without touching code.

The structure does double duty. Concerts branch into country, Latin, pop, rock, and hip hop. Sports split into football, baseball, soccer, and races. Each branch is its own page with its own shot at ranking, so every time the team expands the catalog, the search footprint grows with it.

The site launched with six trip types and runs eight today, and we were not involved in the expansion. That was the point.

Custom functionality for the slow yes

Nobody books a vacation in one sitting. People look, think it over, talk to whoever they travel with, then come back. So we built save favorites into the site. A heart on every event card, a favorites page where saved trips wait for the return visit. Off the shelf event plugins do not do this, which is part of why nothing on this build is off the shelf.

Wired into Westgate’s marketing engine

A Westgate sub brand cannot run on disconnected tools. We implemented Westgate’s API so the site feeds the tracking and marketing automation the parent company already runs across its brands.

Browsing behavior flows into their analytics. Interest flows into their follow up campaigns. Their marketing team works from the systems they already know, with no manual exports and nobody sitting in the middle.

Launched, handed over, still growing

The site went live in 2025 and the Westgate team has run it on their own ever since, adding events, dates, and whole categories along the way.
